His journey began as a part-time paraprofessional at an elementary school in Mattoon, Illinois, while attending Lakeland Community College, demonstrating his commitment to education from the ground up.
After graduating from Eastern Illinois University, John taught Social Studies and Literature for seven years at Heritage Middle School in Berwyn, where he became known as “Mr. Heritage” for his dedication to school climate and student success. He served as a coach, athletic director, and school improvement team member, always focused on creating positive learning environments.
John’s leadership journey continued as Assistant Principal at Mannheim Middle School and later as Principal of Westmont Junior High School for nine years, where he transformed the school’s performance and culture.
